Terms of Use

Last updated September 18, 2026

Welcome to melissalacour.com (the "Site"), owned and operated by Melissa LaCour, LPC ("Practice," "I," "we," or "us"). By accessing or using this Site, you agree to the following Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree, please do not use this Site.

1. No Provider-Client Relationship Created by This Site

Use of this Site, including submitting a contact form, sending an email, or scheduling a consultation, does not create a therapist-client relationship. A provider-client relationship begins only after intake paperwork is completed, informed consent is signed, and services have formally begun.

2. Educational Purposes Only

Content on this Site — including blog posts, workbooks, workshop descriptions, and any downloadable materials — is provided for general educational and informational purposes only. It is not a substitute for professional mental health treatment, diagnosis, or advice. Reading this content does not constitute therapy or counseling.

3. Not for Emergencies

This Site is not monitored continuously and should never be used to communicate a mental health emergency. If you are experiencing a crisis, in danger of harming yourself or others, or need immediate help:

  • Call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline)

  • Call 911

  • Go to your nearest emergency room

4. Licensure and Scope of Practice

Melissa LaCour is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Louisiana (License #7708), with privilege to practice in Georgia, Indiana, Minnesota, and Ohio. Services are only available to individuals physically located in a state where the Practice is authorized to provide services at the time of the session. It is the client's responsibility to confirm their location qualifies before scheduling.

5. No Guarantee of Outcomes

Testimonials, case examples, or descriptions of therapeutic approaches on this Site are not guarantees of results. Individual outcomes vary, and no specific result from counseling, workshops, or workbook materials is promised.

6. Intellectual Property

All content on this Site — including text, graphics, logos, workbook and workshop materials, and design elements — is the property of Melissa LaCour, LPC, unless otherwise noted, and is protected by copyright law. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from this content without written permission.

7. Purchases (Workbooks, Workshops, Digital Products)

If you purchase a workbook, workshop, or other digital product through this Site:

  • All sales are final unless otherwise stated at the point of purchase.

  • Digital products are licensed for personal use only and may not be resold, redistributed, or shared.

  • Pricing is subject to change without notice.

8. Third-Party Links

This Site may link to third-party websites (e.g., scheduling software, payment processors, directories). We are not responsible for the content, privacy practices, or terms of those third-party sites.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Melissa LaCour, LPC, and this Practice are not liable for any damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, this Site, including reliance on any information contained in it.

10. Privacy

Your use of this Site is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains how information submitted through this Site is collected and used. HIPAA protections apply to clinical records once a client relationship is established, not to general website browsing.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms and Conditions at any time. Continued use of the Site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Louisiana, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
