FAQS

Questions about what it’s like to work together?

Here are some of the most common questions I get about therapy. If you don’t see your question answered below, please contact me.

  • My office address is:

143 Ridgeway Drive, Suite 219, Lafayette, LA 70503

It is centrally located in Lafayette, near Red’s on Doucet Road.

  • Yes! I offer sessions in-person at my office in Lafayette, LA.

  • Online sessions are held through a secure portal (Simple Practice) to ensure your confidentiality. Online therapy allows you to connect from the comfort of your own home or on your lunch break at work. All you need is a stable internet connection and phone or laptop. Online therapy is confidential, convenient, and effective.

  • My office hours are Monday - Thursday from 9 am - 5 pm and Fridays from 9 am - 1 pm.

I am out of the office most holidays. You will be notified ahead of time if I am unavailable.

  • I value your time, my time & the work we will do together.

    I charge accordingly:

    75-minute intake Session - $160

    50-minute individual session – $140

    60-minute family session – $160

    90-minute session – $200

When you enter into therapy with me, I commit to you. I ask you to be equally invested.

When you work with me, you are one of a handful of other clients that will get my knowledge, advice, experience & guidance. I have chosen to limit my caseload so that I can provide a better service to my clients. Not only does this make the most practical sense, but it also serves as an example for my clients - to own their worth, value themselves & hold firm to it.

Beyond this value of mine, as a client of mine, you are not simply paying for the time we meet together but also the behind-the-scenes work that I do, including training, research, treatment goals & seeking ongoing clinical consultation to better serve you.

I currently accept Aetna and Cigna insurance. For other insurances, I am an Out of Network provider and can provide a Superbill as needed for you to file with your insurance company for potential partial reimbursement for services.

Mental health is important and to make sure services are available to everyone, I do have a few reduced-rate appointments - you only need to ask.

  • I meet with clients weekly or biweekly at minimum to start. Each session lasts the duration of the appointment time you scheduled. This consistency maximizes the impact of the work and allows us to make legitimate progress toward your goals.

The total duration of your treatment is up to you! Some people come for a “tune up” type of experience. They only want/need a handful of sessions and feel equipped to move on. Others prefer to dive in and do deeper work and those individuals may choose to commit to longer periods of time.

  • The first step is to contact me or reach out to (337) 247-2043 or email me at info@melissalacour.com. I typically respond to emails the same day. If I am unavailable by phone, I will call you back within 1-2 business days.

The point of the free phone consultation is to briefly understand your goals for treatment and determine if I’m the right fit for you.

At this time you can ask me any questions you may have as well as explore your goals for treatment.

If we’re a fit, we will coordinate availability and get you scheduled. If I’m not the right fit for you, I will provide you with referrals to other providers or services that may be more effective for your situation.

  • If you are unable to attend your scheduled session please notify me as soon as possible. A 24-hour notice is required to avoid the cancellation fee, which is the full cost cost of your session.
